21 Week Ultrasound

Today was the big day...our 21 week ultrasound.  I was so excited at work today and could hardly keep myself from looking at the clock for 2:30 p.m. to hit.  I have always thought it was pretty cool to see the pictures people would share from their ultrasounds, but to see images of your own child on the screen is just an amazing feeling as a parent or soon-to-be parent.  We invited our mom's along to the ultrasound as we thought it would be something fun and exciting to be able to share with them.  The ultrasound tech first showed Charlie and I some of the initial images of little Baby Z. so we could have our own moment and then we invited the mom's in.  It was just amazing to see the tiny little spine and intricate features already formed.  And then, to see the heart beating and to be able to see how each of the chambers are functioning just gave me goose bumps.  Charlie and I left the hospital truly amazed!  We started talking about what Genesis 2:7 says, "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."  This verse just has so much more meaning to us today.  God is such an amazing God.  He is so powerful.  He is our Creator and our Almighty Father and we have so much to be thankful for.

Here are some pictures from the big day:

Half Way!!!

I can't believe we are already half way through this pregnancy.  I still remember the morning before we left for family vacation, waking up and deciding to take a pregnancy test because I wanted to know if I was pregnant before we left for a week.  The moment I saw two lines on that test, my whole body began to shake from all of the emotions-I just don't think I was quite expecting that.  I won't forget going to the bedroom to try and wake Charlie up to share the news by giving him a "Happy Father's Day Card!"  He was being a pain in the rear first and was just so tired so he set the card on my pillow and went back to sleep.  So...I hopped in the shower quick and then rushed back to the room and finally just woke him up because I couldn't keep my feelings in anymore.  I woke him up and said "Happy Start of Vacation Day," I have a little something for you.  I gave him the card again and he finally opened it.  He got a funny look on his face when he read the front which said, "Happy Father's Day" and then proceeded to read what I wrote inside.  If I remember right his first words were..."Really?  Oh that's awesome!"  We were both so excited!  But let me tell you the rest of that day which was supposed to be the day to get all packed up was a disaster.  I don't think either of us could think clearly.  I'm surprised I didn't miss packing anything important for the trip.  Oh the memories you will never forget.  And here we are today at 20 weeks along already.  It's crazy how fast this time has gone.

On Monday we had our 3rd OB appointment (19 weeks).  Everything looked good.  My blood pressure and protein level were both good and I put on a whole whopping 7 pounds since my last appointment...woo who!  We also got to hear our little one's heartbeat again, which never ceases to amaze me.  This time the  heartbeat was at 155 bpm, which some would say leans to "girl".  So now we have had a "boy's" heartbeat and a "girl's".  This coming Thursday we head to the hospital for our first big Ultrasound.  We have been looking so forward to this.  I don't even know what to expect, but it will be amazing to see some images of our little one for the first time.  We have invited our mom's to come to this with us so that will be fun to share with them.

Anyways, here's the most recent baby bump picture:

We look forward to updating you after our ultrasound later this coming week!

Weeks 18 & 19

I don't have too much to update on over the past two weeks, but I do have some updated pictures to share.  I have continued to feel pretty good for the most part, however my irritable bowel syndrome has decided to kick in and start kicking my butt some, so that has not been the most fun.  I have dealt with this for the past few years now so  though so at least I'm used to it.

Tomorrow Charlie and I have our next (3rd) OB Appointment with Dr. Anderson.  We are so anxious!  We originally had the appointment scheduled for last week, but she had something come up so we had to move it back it a week.  An additional week just seems like forever when you're anxious to hear your little one's heartbeat and see how things are going.  Anyway, I guess it gives us something to look forward to right?

I can't believe I am only a few days away from being half way through my pregnancy already, time has just continued to fly by.  Soon we should have our ultrasound which will be a very fun and exciting experience for us.  Can't wait to share.  For now, here are some updated belly pictures from the past two weeks.  I am waiting for a picture I took on the 4th of July at the lakes as it is on my sisters computer, so as soon as I receive that one from her I'll have to post it as well.
